New wolf pack emerges in Oregon

Post by Koa » Sat Sep 01, 2012 4:48 pm

New wolf pack confirmed in Oregon. Where's OR-7 during all this?
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — State biologists have identified a new wolf pack in northeastern Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife wolf coordinator Russ Morgan said Friday that the discovery brings to five the number of packs with pups.

If four of those packs still have two pups each by December, that would mark a milestone toward taking wolves off the state endangered species list.

Haha, indeed. Too bad. Missed his chance. But... just perhaps he'll live in Cali for a while, no?

Staying in California will not be beneficial to him in the least. He'll probably get killed by whatever means before any wolves "move" to California. Either that, or if he does, by chance, happen to re-locate back to Oregon, there's always the possibility he could get killed on his way there. Until OR-7 moves back to a residence populated with wolves, sadly I cannot see a prosperous future for him.

I agree that is nots beneficial, haha. I've been thinking the same way you have- and, I doubt he'll make it back to Oregon. I'm sure a he'll turn around sooner or later.

That's what we can hope. If he stays on the move, he may be "swayed" towards Oregon once more if the resources available move him towards that path, but given that he is outside the normal for a dispersal, it's hard to say.

That's great news! I hope OR-7 becomes a successful, prosperous pack and contributed to wolves' survival. :D

OR-7 is actually just a lone wolf, not a wolf pack ^^

Ok, but I misworded that. What I meant is, I hope this wolf starts a pack that becomes successful.

The discussion centers around the newly formed wolf pack in Oregon. If you wish to discuss OR-7, please keep the discussion here:
