Re: I killed a Bull Elk for the first time!
Congrats! I've killed countless bull elk and never died (I mainly hunt in single player since multiplayer malfunctions on my low RAM memory tablet) Once you get the hang of it, hunting the big bad bull is EASY! P.s. I am not trying to brag. I'm just telling everyone that bull hunting is easy once you have a technique.

Re: I killed a Bull Elk for the first time!
I recently killed my first cow moose. But my mate finished it :'(
Re: I killed a Bull Elk for the first time!
Congrats on your first bull! A technique I used on my older tablet I only use a little I would kill all the cows first to have food.
Re: I killed a Bull Elk for the first time!
Congratulations on killing your first bull elk! According to my wolf stats, I have killed 21.

Nice work! Bulls are hard to bring down!
The kill I'm most proud of would probably either be the first
Time I killed a Moose or Cougar, I've killed a lot of thoughs sence then,
One time I killed a bull Elk without a mate, that was with Blackburn though, who
Strength is 100% Stamina 0% Speed 50%, I've killed 76 Bulls

Good job on the successful hunt! Your wolf's 100% strength stat also makes him well prepared to go after the bull elk. With high strength, each bite wears down the health of bull elk a little more.
In singleplayer I enjoy the challenge of finding and hunting cow moose the best, but I like hunting bull elk too.

Congrats! They are a thrill to take down, especially on your own.

Re: I killed a Bull Elk for the first time!
I can relate to the almost killing a bull elk. I had to eat or else, so I ran over to a carcass and ate. Went back and looked for the bull, but couldn't find the elk or even its scent anywhere. Eventually found the herd, and it had a perfectly healthy bull. So my prey had basically vanished, and I had to start over with a healthy elk.
I finally did manage to kill a bull elk. Took forever, especially since towards the end. The bull had about 1% health left, but I was so low myself, I couldn't get near him without dying. And my false lunges weren't enough for my mate to get the hint, so I finally had to eat. I was afraid I'd lose that bull like I did the other one, but luckily, I was able to go back and kill him.
And so far I've killed about ten females. My mate and I have been very productive today.

Good job on your kills! My boy didn’t do too hot; died rather quickly each time before I threw in the towel

My advice is to have a bunch of carcasses near the bull elk. Than bite heal repeat.

Yeah, I ought to be logical about my approach next time! I think I was more so just fooling around than taking the hunt seriously. Once the new WQ game releases, I'll probably play the game correctly again instead of forcing my wolves to go against instinctselkhunter123456 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 5:52 amMy advice is to have a bunch of carcasses near the bull elk. Flamesky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2014 4:41 pmI've noticed cow elk will keep running from wolves until they are very low on health, then they will stand and fight. Bull elk only run for a short while and then fight. I've been able to kill bull elk in single player without my wolf or its mate dying (helpful in amethyst mountain) by following these steps:
1. Chase the bull elk until he turns around and faces my wolves
2. Attack the bull elk with my wolf. The mate will help.
3. When both wolves are low on health, make my wolf howl. The mate will howl too and stop attacking.
4. Lead your wolf's mate to an elk carcass (my may need to use more than one).
5. Eat from the carcass until my wolf's health is restored. The mate will eat as well but only when low on health.
6. Attack the bull elk again
7. Go back to the carcasses as needed to restore health
8. Keep attacking the bull elk until I kill it.
"Thanks! that helpful!!"

Re: Killing Bull elk (Your experiences0
As far as stats go, my wolves have had a lot of success hunting bulls in singleplayer with about 80-85 strength/55-60 speed/10 stamina. I'll try out some different stat combinations, but that one works well for me. I can inflict enough damage with each bite to make the kill less time-consuming. The tradeoff is that the running cow elk often outrun me with my low stamina. It's actually easier for me to go after the stronger cows, and my mate and I attack on both sides and try to get as much damage before the cow breaks free and runs.
I've noticed that when I get a bull elk on the run, he'll eventually turn back and return to the herd just like the cow elk will do once you stop chasing. This has helped me when my mate and I are low on health and far from our source of carcasses, we follow the bull at a distance so there's no danger of the elk despawning. Moose are solitary, so they don't do this, but bull elk walk back to the hunting ground if you let them.

Re: Killing Bull elk (Your experiences0
On A.E, my first wolf, Clive, I was having trouble finding herds and so I was forced to resort to finding small bachelor herds of bull elk. In my experience- on easy mind you- bull elk aren't incredibly hard to kill. Yes, they're much more defensive, but you get in a lot of throat-bites which damages their health more quickly!
