Re: African Wild Dog

I heard somewhere that prey animals have a gland that numbs or dulls the pain when their brain realizes they're being eaten. Not sure if it's true but if anyone has any information on that it would be appreciated. That's a great capture; I love seeing wild dogs in action even if they're showing the ...

Re: How many times have YOU died?

lol I don't keep track. I remember one really dramatic death though. My wolf and her mate were trying to take down a bull elk. The mate had fallen behind because he was bigger and slower. But my wolf, Slinky, was fighting the bull and they were both low on energy. In the end, they both killed each o...

Re: African Wild Dog

WOAH what zoo is that? 8D I really want to see an African Wild Dog irl. XD And I don't think it's because they're endangered that most people don't know about them. Many people know about the Giant Panda BECAUSE it's so endangered. It's just because African Wild Dogs aren't in the media that often. ...

Re: favorite bugs or insects

April, does that info have to do with all Bumblebee species? And thanks for the excerpt, I learned a lot. :D Don't wave your arms wildly in their presence, stand quietly and once they smell you are not a flower with pollen they will move gently away. Bumble bees do not lose their sting and die if th...

Re: favorite bugs or insects

I think Bumblebees are solitary. So they don't have hives. Don't quote me on this though, insects aren't my specialty. So, yeah... I'm pretty careful around bees, even Bumblebees. Being a child raised in the outdoors I've had my fair share of stings. >.< But I don't think I've ever been stung by a B...

Re: favorite bugs or insects

lol, well bumblebees buzz by my ears too. XD I used to be scared of them until a couple incidents where I was "saved" by one. They're fun to play with... so curious. Once I was chasing one around and it was flying back and forth and hiding behind trees and stuff. Then I stopped and looked aro...

Re: favorite bugs or insects

Oh yeah, I love moths more than butterflies. They're so much more fluffy. XD I don't know why people would think they're gross. Oh, my friend and I found this gorgeous Imperial Moth out in the park once. It was awesome. <3

Now that I think about it, Bumblebees are my probably my favorite.

Me too! I also love dragonflies. And bumblebees. Insects are just too cute, I don't know why people hate them so much. XD

Re: African Wild Dog

I love African Wild Dogs. I was one of the first visitors to the Perth ZOO after the female had her pups. They were adorable. I've been there recently and they've grown A LOT, as you would expect. Wow... not only have you seen African Wild Dogs, but pups too! *ENVY* How many where there? 'Cause in ...

Re: African Wild Dog

Hey, as long as you are talking about amazing canines, check out the hyena and the Aardwolf. They are really cool too. I love hyenas  but i am just an animal nut all around. I bet there is not a single animal that you could show me that I don't know a fact ( or two ) about! Well, hyenas te...

Re: African Wild Dog

You know what would be cool? An African Wild Dog game like WolfQuest. 8D Think of all the coat color possibilities! XD And you could hunt antelope and try to defend the pack from lions and hyenas. Though I don't think wild dogs are popular or well known enough for that. :[
